Turning Pain into Form
Kahlo spent months in bed after her accident, her body in braces, her mind unstill. So she began to paint herself — not from vanity, but from survival. Her canvas became a way to organise pain into shape and colour.

The thinker
Painter of Pain and Power
Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) was a Mexican painter whose self-portraits became icons of identity, suffering, and resistance. Her work explored the politics of the body, the violence of love, and the radical act of self-expression. Though often bedridden, she created some of the most enduring visual philosophies of the 20th century.
