How to Slow Down Aging
Aging happens because as we grow older, our cells gradually lose the vital information necessary for optimal functioning, resulting in a decline in our overall health. This loss of information occurs in two forms: digital and analog. The digital information, encoded in our genome, has the potential to endure for centuries. On the other hand, the analog information, known as the epigenome, directs our cells on which genes to activate or silence. This epigenetic information is more delicate and can degrade more rapidly, contributing to the aging process.
David Andrew Sinclair is an Australian biologist and academic known for his research on aging and epigenetics. Sinclair is a professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School and is the co-director of its Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research.
